Intel unleashes PCI SSD 750-series

Intel has launched their latest 750-series solid state drives which are based on a PCIe and NVMe interfaces, giving the users much higher performance than the company’s SATA SSDs.
According to Intel's product marketing engineer Jeff Fick the new 750 series offers such performance and delivers the “highest SSD performance” anyone will see for a long time.

Want to know about the read and write speeds? Well the 750 PCI SSD can deliver read speeds of up to 2400MB/s and write speeds of up to 1200MB/s, and also they can reach 440,000 IOPS in read and 290,000 IOPS in write mode. The drives employ 20nm class chips.

Fick also said that “The sequential performance is quite high and added that Intel’s focus was on random performance, demanded by workstation users.

These aren’t Intel’s first non-SATA drives, but they are the first PCI and NVMe drives intended for individual users. The company’s previous PCIe solutions were designed for data centres rather than workstations.

While the drives aren’t available in SATA flavours, there is a 2.5-inch version, but it’s 15mm thick , 2.5" and requires a special connector which you won’t find on most machines. The PCIe model ships in the form of a half-height PCIe card.

Prices and capacities for these badboys are set to $390 for the 400GB version and $1,030 for the 1.2TB.

Haswell-E "Intel® Core™ i7-5960X"

Intel unleashed their first desktop processor with 8-cores/16-threads and support of DDR4 memory.

The processor named "Intel® Core™ i7-5960X" is the first processor of the company's to include 8-cores/16-threads as well as DDR4 memory and support of the new chipset X99 which includes up to 40 PCI Express 3.0 lanes.

The i7-5960X comes with 20MB of L3 cache while each core is clocked at 3GHz which can also run at 3.5GHz with Turbo Boost mode.

The price tag of this high-end processor is touching the $999 just like other Extreme edition cpu's in the past.

"For enthusiasts, gamers and content creators craving the ultimate in performance, Intel's first client processor supporting 16 computing threads and new DDR4 memory will enable some of the fastest desktop systems ever seen. The new enhanced Intel® X99 Chipset and robust overclocking capabilities will allow enthusiasts to tune their systems for maximum performance." - (PAX), Seattle, Aug. 29, 2014

"Intel's new platform delivers the maximum processing power with eight cores of unstoppable processing power and supports DDR4 memory giving extreme gamers and demanding enthusiasts exactly what they need," - Wallace Santos, CEO and founder of MAINGEAR*.

Octa-core i7 Extreme Edition

Intel unveiled their new cpu codenamed "Devil's Canyon" at the Game Developer's Conference. The new Core-i7 extreme edition will feature 8 unlocked cores for over-clocking , 16-threads and will also support the latest DDR4 memory standard, which brings much higher transfer speeds and lower power drain than DDR3. Along with a better thermal interface, all that will enable significant over-clocking and performance enhancements, according to Intel.
Intel also announced a Pentium Anniversary Edition cpu with unlockable cores and revealed the portable all-in-one device shown in the following video.
Lastly, Intel revealed it's 5th generation unlocked Broadwell 14-nanometer processors with IRIS graphics. The 8-core cpu will be available mid-2014 followed by Pentium and Broadwell.
