Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

As expected, the Samsung Galaxy Note5 isn't the only new handset to debut at Samsung's Unpacked event. The company introduced the Galaxy S6 edge+ with a 5.7" dual-curve display and an Exynos 7420 chipset with 4GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ offers a slightly bigger display than S6 edge, more RAM and larger battery.. The new Super AMOLED is 5.7 inches and keeps the resolution at Quad HD, which adds up to 518 ppi pixel density.

The Exynos 7420 powerhouse is once again powering a Galaxy flagship, just like it did the Galaxy S6 edge. It offers an octa-core processor with 4x Cortex-A53 @1.5GHz and 4x Cortex-A57 @2.1GHz, Mali-T760MP8 graphics and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The smaller S6 edge comes with "just" 3GB RAM.
The main camera seems to be the unchanged - a 16MP snapper with optical image stabilization and f/1.9 aperture. A front 5MP selfie shooter is also onboard, again with a bright f/1.9 aperture.

The connectivity package is as impressive as it can get - LTE Cat.9/Cat.6 (market dependent), Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.2 with ANT+, NFC, GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS, Beidou), plus support for Samsung Pay via Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST).

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is powered by e 3,000 mAh battery and is capable of fast charging both on cable and wireless charger. The phone comes wireless charging enabled, buy you'll need to by the charger itself separately.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop skinned with the latest TouchWiz UI. It also supports the newest KNOX version.

The Galaxy S6 edge+ will be available in 32GB and 64GB flavors and will come in 4 color options to choose from - Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and White Pearl.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

The latest device from Samsung, the fifth generation Galaxy Note has released with this year's models feature a metal and glass frame follow-up to the Galaxy S6.

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 is the evolution of last year's model Note 4 with similarities to the S6. The bezels around the 5.7" screen are narrower, the phablet itself is almost a millimeter thinner making it easier to hold in the hand.
The Super AMOLED screen has QHD resolution as before, but the way it interacts with the S Pen stylus has been revamped. The stylus is clickable, though that only serves to get it out of its sheath. Once you do, you can start immediately taking a note even when the screen is "off" (with AMOLED the distinction is small).

If the screen is already on the new Air Command shows up instead. You get to put app shortcuts in it to make multitasking easier.

Specs:
The Galaxy Note5 has 4GB of RAM, up from 3GB on both the Note 4 and Galaxy S6. This gives apps more playroom, but the Exynos 7420 chipset will have an even bigger impact – it's currently the fastest mobile chipset on the market, Samsung didn’t even need to overclock it as new competition is yet to catch up.

Storage is based on the fast UFS 2.0 standard. While it outruns regular eMMC 5.0 storage, data hoarders have been locked out of expanding the memory – the base model has 32GB, you can upgrade to 64GB and that's it. No microSD slot, no 128GB option (Samsung discontinued the 128GB S6 in some markets).

The camera is lifted from the Galaxy S6. A 16MP sensor behind a wide f/1.9 aperture, plus optical image stabilization and auto real-time HDR. It can record 2160p video or livestream 1080p to YouTube. For selfies you get a 5MP sensor and an f/1.9 aperture.

Samsung has updated the audio department with Ultra High Quality Audio, which promises "richer" sound. This feature will work over Bluetooth with new compatible Level On headphones.

The Galaxy Note5 checks wireless all boxes, but a highlight is Samsung Pay, which works over NFC or MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission). Pay will launch in the US in September so it will be ready when Note5s arrive in users' hands.

The updated fingerprint sensor is available to secure transactions and other features of the phablet.

Much like the storage, the battery has been sealed off. What's more the capacity dropped to 3,000mAh (220mAh down). Samsung is counting on Fast Charging – both wired and wireless! – to offset that.

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 will be available for pre-order today, coming in Black Sapphire, White Pearl, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium.

It will be available in the US on August 21, with pre-orders starting today. You can go for a hands-on as soon as tomorrow in 7,000 locations across the US. Pricing will be announced by the carriers.

Samsung's slimmest smartphone Galaxy A8

It's official the handset is now listed on the Korean manufacturer's China website and we can finally say that the company's thinnest phone to date is a reality and relieve ourselves of the sea of information that has been bombarding the rumor mill.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 has a metal frame with a curvature very similar to that of the Galaxy S6, but the glass on the back has been replaced by aluminum, as is typical for the A-series. The handset has a profile of just 5.9mm and packs a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, yet still manages to keep thinks on the light side weighing in at 151 grams - quite modest for a phablet.

Under the hood, there is a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, with one cluster of Cortex-A53 cores working at 1.0 GHz and another ticking at 1.5 GHz. RAM is 2GB, onboard storage can be either 16GB or 32GB and there is also a microSD card slot. The memory expansion slot is shared with the second SIM slot so you can't get both dual-SIM and microSD at the same time, though.
In terms of connectivity the Samsung Galaxy offers 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with Glonass and Beidou support, as well as NFC.
The camera setup consists of a 16MP main shooter with OIS and a bright f/1.9 aperture.
Another high-end feature present in the Galaxy A8 is a fingerprint reader, just like the flagship models. The unit is powered by a 3,050 mAh battery and Samsung promises 304 hours of standby time. As far as we currently know, color options include white, black and gold.
According to a report out of China the Galaxy A8 prices will start at 3,199 CNY or about $515 for the 16GB version, those who opt for double the internal storage will have to pay 3,499 or $565. If that seems a bit excessive for a mid-range smartphone bear in mind the fact that this is Samsung’s most feature-packed mid-range smartphone ever and also the thinnest handset it has ever produced.

The all new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

And the latest flagship from Samsung is finally here coming in two versions. The brand new device Galaxy S6 which has been launched at MWC 2015 this time is joined by the Galaxy S6 Edge which features a curved screen in both sides (remember last year's one side curved Galaxy Note Edge). The two devices pack the same specification apart the two side curved display and the battery.
This year samsung made the phones more attractive with fusion of "glass and metal" which is more solid and has a premium feeling when holding it while the size certainly more impressive.

Sadly the glass and metal design won't leave room for waterproofness (let's hope that it is going to be on the S6 Active - if they condinue the "Active" line up) as well as a non-removable battery and no microSD card slot. Bare in mind that the device will be available in 32, 64 and 128GB.

Samsung will continue with their Super AMOLED displays as we see for quite long time now but this time will go with QHD resolution of 2560x1440 pixels just like "Galaxy Note 4". This means the display of the device will be more clear and crisp with more ppi's (577).

Samsung has stuck stick with the excellent Super AMOLED displays we've seen from the company for quite a while on the Galaxy S6 but this time things have become a lot more awesome: much like the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy S6 comes with a 2560 x 1440 pixel QHD resolution.

Samsung has made the camera one of the key features on this new phone, and has stuck a 16MP sensor on there. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and S6 have identical snappers, with the South Korean brand looking to keep them as similar as possible - it's just the screen that's the differentiator. This time the sensor will have an aperture of f1.9 meaning that it is going to be excellent for low light, and an improvement of 34% over the Galaxy S5.

It still has the same Auto HDR mode as before, and will show how the images will look in HDR mode before you take it - plus smart Optical Image Stabilisation will keep the shake away. Also an upgrade of the front facing camera has been made with the same low light performance (which is a big jump from last year's model).

One thing that is certainly worrying everyone is the battery capacity. The latest device by the Korean company, Galaxy S6 this year will come with only 2550mAh, while the S6 Edge will have 2600mAh, compared to the 2800mAh of the phone from last year. This means Samsung might have configured the chipset, screen and operating system in such a way to be more efficient and could therefore get away with a smaller battery, or they realised that they needed to make an amazingly designed phone in order not to lose more ground in the high end smartphone industry.

At least the phone has the ability to charge wirelessly, which means if you see a charging panel without wires, you can place your S6 down on it without worry. It can also charge up enough in just 10 minutes which will lasts for up to 2 hours of video playback thanks to the new faster charging system. "We are sure everyone needs super charging phones".
Samsung Galaxy S6 power

Now lets head under the hood of the device where a 64-bit version of the Android Lollipop (of course with Samsung's TouchWiz UI) will power on the Galaxy S6 with their own chipset "Exynos" rather than the latest "Qualcomm Snapdragon 810" like other companies do use for their smart-devices.

The decision to use 3GB inside is therefore a little bit maddening, as 4GB would have allowed the system to fully take control of the 64-bit architecture. But given taht there aren't that many apps or services out there which can make use of the extra power yet.

The Galaxy S6 does use new type of flash memory featuring in the handset called UFS v.2.0 (Universal Flash Storage) to enhance data speeds and power consumption, as well as improve speed of use - which is the reason the microSD card slot has been removed, which might not be in need this time as we said earlier Samsung will offer the Galaxy S6 in 32, 64 and 128GB variants.

Lastly you will all be wondering how much will the two devices costs but unfortunelty no mention from Samsung yet about prices but according to AndroidPit the devices will be close to the prices shown below.

  • Samsung Galaxy S6 32 GB: €749 (around £560, $855)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 64 GB: €849 (around £635, $970)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 128 GB: €949 (around £710, $1085)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB: €849 (around £636, $970)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB: €949 (around £711, $1085)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 128GB: €1,049 (around £786, $1199)

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

Samsung not only announced "Note 4" but also showed another version of the Note called "Note Edge" with a curved display at the right hand side.
Firstly the Note Edge has the same specs as the "Note 4", it has the same metallic design, the same soft-touch back cover, same 16-megapixel camera, heart-rate monitor, processor, memory, software, Multi-Window feature (two apps split screen) and also a high-end powerful device with the same QHD display of 2560 x 1440 pixels although it is 0.1 inch smaller at 5.6 inches.
The curved part of the display's default usage is as a quick launcher with easy access to a bunch of your most-used applications. There are also number of widgets which let you go through news or tweets and other information. All these works without the need of interrupting the main screen. Other use of the edge is it's acting as a toolbar, offering easy access to menus or camera modes and other application settings. it can also be an alarm at night by displaying the time on the side of the phone so you can see it without touching the device.

Samsung announced Galaxy Note 4

It's here! The latest device of the phablet series from Samsung "Galaxy Note 4" was just announced at IFA 2014 with "Note Edge".
This year's devices packs a 5.7 inches AMOLED display, just like its last model, but this time it is a Quad HD resolution giving 2560x1440 pixels (515ppi) which should make for a huge improvement on sharpness, a big difference from last year's Note 3 which had 1920x1080 pixels (388ppi). ppi ~ pixel-per-inch.
Samsung added few new features this time to the phablet, one of them allows an app to be shrunk down into a smaller window that can hover overtop of another app and still be used and also apps can be put into a split-screen view (two apps in split screen).

A noticeable change to the Note 4 is the metal band wrapping around its side, which looks like the recent Galaxy Alpha smartphone. Samsung kept the faux-leather style on the back, but the small changes go a long way to making this new Note look much better than the last device's.

Note 4 will be available in black, white, pink, and bronze while the S Pen also available with the device allowing the phone to be controlled with a stylus. Samsung says that the Note 4 has double the pressure sensitivity of the Note 3.

Lets go over to the tech page of the device were there is a 16-megapixel rear camera with image stabilization and a 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera. This new Note also includes a heart-rate monitor and a fingerprint sensor like the ones added to the Galaxy S5. The phone comes with a quad-core (Snapdragon 805) clocked at 2.7GHz and octa-core (Exynos 5433) clocked at 1.9GHz and 1.3GHz processor versions, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage that can be expand through MicroSD. The phone will be runing Android 4.4.4 KitKat. All these are powered up by a 3,220mAh battery which is said it can charge from zero to 50 percent capacity in just 30 minutes. Lastly Samsung has dropped USB 3.0 charging port in favor of a more traditional, and much more streamlined, MicroUSB 2.0 port.
Samsung is also unveiling the Galaxy Note Edge, a separate version of the Note with a display that curves over one side of the phone.
